Welcome to the new Mightybell, where communities learn and share together in groups.
Today we’re thrilled to announce the new Mightybell, where communities learn and share together in groups. You can create a new Mightybell Community from our brand new homepage.
Here’s a short video on how they work:
Why Mightybell Communities?
Communities online are a tricky thing. The vast majority of forums, feeds and pages don’t deliver on the community promise to meet and learn together with people who share the same goal, purpose or passion. As more people join, these forums, feeds and pages get noisy and attract spammers in a way that reduces their value to individual members.
To make a community meaningful, the research is pretty clear:
- Learning is the most effective when done within smaller groups of people
- Happiness is deeply correlated to developing close relationships
- People max out at around 150 relationships
We asked the obvious question: is it possible to have a growing community that achieves “Internet scale” while also enabling members to build close relationships and organize locally?
We’ve spent the past year ambitiously experimenting with ways to achieve this goal. The result are the Mightybell Communities we are launching today.
CREATIVE SUNDAYS: AN EXAMPLE MIGHTYBELL COMMUNITY
Mightybell Communities are designed to grow an organization of local chapters, or a network of learning or discussion groups around particular projects or interests. These networks maintain closeness while scaling through each new group created.
THE LOCAL LEVO COMMUNITY ON MIGHTYBELL
A LOCAL LEVO CHAPTER ON MIGHTYBELL
Mightybell is unique in giving organizers the ability to create and publish collections of content that appear in every group. This content and curriculum is the connective tissue of the communities. Members of those groups can use this community content, create their own content, privately chat with other members, or organize meetups.
How Mightybell Communities are Different
A Mightybell Community is different from other social network or social enterprise software in a few key ways:
- Your brand is first. Mightybell is here to support your community, not the other way around. While Mightybell does not offer a complete white label product, your brand is first.
- Simple and sophisticated. Unlike social enterprise solutions that confuse complexity with sophistication, Mightybell Communities are powerful, sophisticated and simple to set-up and use. You may be skeptical that a Mightybell Community can deliver both beautiful design as well as a well-coordinated network of local chapters and groups, but that’s exactly what it does.
- Organized to reflect the real world. Mightybell Communities are the first community offering to move beyond an artificially created discussion forum or page to reflect how people learn and share in the real world: through local chapters and groups. That doesn’t mean Mightybell Communities can’t enjoy massive scale or make new connections through technology - they can do both - but they do it in a way that reflects how people build relationships in the real world.
- Just add content and curriculum. Here at Mightybell, we are obsessed with reducing the amount of work involved in moderating a community. Mightybell is unique in giving community organizers the ability to create and publish collections of content that appear in every circle in the community. In practice, this means that members are talking to each other in groups and there are very few places for public spam and abuse.

Our Mission
When we started Mightybell, our mission was to bring people together around their interests, passions and goals in ways that brought them closer. Mightybell Communities is the next product chapter towards this goal.
We hope you find creating and sharing Mightybell Communities as fun as we have had making them.
